Crepe vs Cotton Shirts: Which Fabric Is Right for You?
Share
Two fabrics dominate our collection — cotton and crepe — and we're often asked which one to choose. The honest answer: it depends on how you'll wear it. Here's a practical guide.
Cotton: the everyday workhorse
Our cotton shirts are cut from 100% organic poplin — smooth, crisp and completely breathable. Cotton is the right choice when:
• You're dressing for hot, humid days — nothing breathes like cotton.
• You like a crisp, structured look that holds a collar beautifully.
• The shirt will see heavy rotation — organic poplin handles frequent machine washing with ease.
Crepe: drape and movement
Natural crepe has a subtly textured surface and a fluid, flowing drape. Choose crepe when:
• You want movement — crepe skims rather than holds its shape, flattering on every figure.
• You're travelling — crepe resists wrinkles and packs light.
• You're dressing up — the gentle sheen and drape reads dressier than crisp cotton.
What about prints?
Both fabrics carry our prints beautifully, but differently: cotton gives sharp, precise edges to detailed patterns, while crepe softens prints slightly and adds depth as the fabric moves. Every piece — cotton or crepe — carries our fabric promise: anti-bleed, anti-peel, anti-shrink and 100% breathable.
The short answer
Everyday wear and hot weather: cotton. Travel, evenings and fluid silhouettes: crepe. Can't decide? Most of our customers end up with both.
